The Exchange Project

Intercultural understanding is the best weapon against prejudice and misunderstanding. Therefore, with the help of our exchange programme, we promote international understanding between the individual countries and ethnic groups of East Africa and other regions of the world. Adolescents and young adults should get to know their direct neighbours, reduce prejudices and develop a healthy self-confidence.

Sexual education course

On 9th 05. 2021, we held our very first sex education class with the elder children between the ages of 13-17 years lead by Vicky, Kayita Innocent and Miss Deborah Nakatudde from SLUM (Serving Lives Under Marginalization).

Exchange 2019

In a bid to create a tech-friendly generation in this new digitalized era, education matter e.V. is one of those stakeholders that have stood up to equip the young generation with computer skills through an annual exchange programme.

Computer Course 2018

The course started in 2018 with the aim to teach the older children in the Education Matters e.V. programmes the professional and efficient use of computers. In Uganda, computer education has recently become compulsory in secondary schools. Unfortunately, most schools cannot afford to buy enough equipment for their students. Consequently, a lot is thaught in theory, but the students have no opportunity to put what they have learned into practice on the computer.

Exchange 2013

After the successful first exchange trip between the Tanzanian orphanage "Watoto wetu Tanzania" and the Ugandan school "Divine Mission Junior School" in Dar es Salaam in 2012, it was no question that the cooperation had to be continued. From 6/30/13 to 7/7/13 the second exchange took place - this time students from Tanzania visited Kampala.

Christmas Celebrations 2012

Like the former volunteers Mark and Johanna two years ago, we - Tom and Lina - also organized Christmas celebrations at Divine Mission Junior School. To celebrate Christmas in school, we wanted to offer the children a Christmas Dinner, especially for those who could not afford a proper dinner for Christmas at home. As the school holidays had already begun, it was nice to have the children back in school.
